Chemistryan oily, colorless or yellow liquid, C₆H₁₂O₂, with an odor like limburger cheese, usually obtained from fatty animal tissue or coconut oil, or synthesized: used chiefly in the manufacture of flavoring agents. Also called hexanoic acid.
